The Bouquet Garni of The Parsley Collective's Research as their term as Dance-Artists-in-Residence at Dance Limerick comes to a close
Gathering. Sfwhiching. Celebrating. Sharing.
The Parsley Collective’s year-long residency is coming to an end soon, and we would love to invite everyone to come celebrate a fruitful year of research together through an afternoon of shared movement, discussion and reflection.
Please join us for any or all of the day’s events:
Thursday 12 March
1.45 – 2 pm We will be gathering at Dance Limerick Performance Space
2 - 3 pm Move with Us: Sfwhiching Open Invitationto members of the public to join The Parsley Collective to taste a movement awareness practise called ‘zer(0)ing’, experienced through ‘sfwhiching’ (Space from Which). No dance experience necessary. Accessible to all abilities and bodily needs. Suitable to all ages 18+ (also an introduction to sfwhich gesture for dancers – in preparation for the evening performance)
3 - 4.30 pm Billy Kemp: Videos An opportunity to look at videos created by Billy Kemp during our residency. And also time to have some tea and buns and chats.
Discussions
4.30 – 5.15 pm Zer(O)ing: A Utopian Aspiration? (Michael G Kelly (live) and Joan Davis (zoom) in conversation with Mary Nunan. Conversation will be grounded in questions that have emerged out of The Parsley Collective’s research into zer(O)ing as a performance practice.
Can utopia/ ou-topos (no-place) be described as a state (an alignment of mind, body, relational energy) rather than an imaginary place in the future? How to write about what we find when we attune to this palpable no-thing, no-place? Language might not be the best mode to describe what we (and many dancer artists) find. But without it we’re stuck!
5.15 – 6 pm The Parsley Collective/Intentional Communities (in a Capitalist World)? Open Forumfacilitated by Mary Wycherley.
The discussion will be anchored in questions that have emerged from The Parsleys’ experience of working as a Collective. This will be the ground from which it can expand.
7.30 – 8.30 pm Performance triple bill: Roberta Ceginskaite, Aoibhín O’Dea & Grace Cuny – Justine Cooper & Rebecca Reilly – The Parsley Jam with Adjacent Herbs*
* For this end-of-residency Improvisation Jam The Parsley Collective will be joined by other dancers. The Jam will be a live exploration of some of the zer(0)ing ‘tasks’ that The Collective researched/refined during their residency. It will be the first time that they have invited other dancers to join them in a performance. So it is bound to be exciting!
The Dance Artist in Residence scheme is funded by the Arts Council of Ireland, Dance Limerick and Limerick City and County Council. In association with The Gaff, Ormston House, Limerick City Gallery of Art, The Civic Trust/The People’s Museum and The Ralahine Centre for Utopian Studies at the University of Limerick.
